The four variables for academic success are;-

• Fast and efficient reading
• Accurate written expression
• Sound arithmetic and good basic mathematical knowledge
• Strong self image based on an athletic body.

We concentrate on these four basic areas.  With these at a good standard, boys can handle any year 10 subject.  However there is a problem. At mainstream schools- boys have difficulty organising their study of  as many as six subjects; this needs to be thought about and discussed before departure to their next school. The problem is one of poor organisation. Parents are encouraged and advised to contact us continually.

We want to produce a very fit and athletic young man with significant physical, social and academic skills. To do this we need to have the student for two years. Sometimes with younger boys one year might be enough but this is not the way to bet. Certainly after one year he will be a fit and self-respecting boy with considerable skills in swimming and other physical activities but probably still needs to read more and improve his mathematics. Most boys arrive with weak grade 4 or 5 arithmetic, some have never read a book, however most are very intelligent. In two years we can usually bring them up to somewhere near their age standard.
